Hoe werkt het?

Dit is een service van een extern bedrijf dat eens per dag controleert of deze pagina is aangepast. Omdat ik de aanpassingen van de site altijd hier vermeld, zul je, als je deze service instelt, dus ten hoogste 1 dag later horen dat er wat is aangepast. Je krijgt dan een Engelstalige mail toegestuurd.

Omdat het een externe service is, zul je nadat je je e-mailadres hebt ingegeven naar een andere site worden doorgesluisd. Dat zier er als volgt uit:

Hier lees je dat je bent opgenomen als je op de Submit knop drukt. Maar er komt dan nog wel een verzoek tot bevestiging. Dat doe je dus door op de mail die je direct wordt toegestuurd te reageren. Het is wel mogelijk dat hij in een spam filter wordt gepakt...dat hebben we bij het testen al eens gemerkt, dus ook daar even kijken. Die mail ziet er als volgt uit:

Subject: Authorization Required for ChangeDetect Somebody (probably you) has entered your email address to set up web page monitoring with ChangeDetect.

To start web page monitoring, please click the following URL: http://www.changedetect.com/changedetect/authorize.asp?a=4255f5d1bbb58518

Vanaf nu krijg je dus een mail als er iets verandert op de update pagina van de Lutra-site. Er is een link opgenomen die je in één keer naar de pagina met updates voert zodat je direct kunt zien wat er veranderd is. In elke mail is ook een link opgenomen die je kunt volgen als je geen gebruik meer van deze service wilt maken.

Zo'n mail als er wat verandert ziet er zo uit:

False alarm?

False-positive reports are irrelevant ChangeDetect notifications trigged by small changes on a web page such as rotating ad banners, current date displays or hit counters.

To avoid false-positive reports, use the notification triggers for ChangeDetect members to set up keyword filters or specify page size threshhold values.
